Ukraine is confidently moving towards membership in the European Union, but the agricultural sector remains one of the most sensitive areas in the process of European integration.

This was stated by theUAC Chairman Andrii Dykun on the ‘We Are Ukraine’ TV channel.

According to him, the Ukrainian agricultural sector is much more efficient than in many EU countries, and this is a cause for concern among European farmers. At the same time, Ukrainian farmers also have concerns, primarily because of the EU's strict regulations, which could reduce their efficiency, yields, and export opportunities.

"The European market is a premium market for us, but we cannot say that it is our key goal. We need to weigh up and move together. We emphasize the gradual European integration of the Ukrainian agricultural sector, with a transition period," emphasized Andrii Dykun.

He also added that Ukraine does not consider EU farmers as competitors.

"We consider European farmers to be our friends and partners. We have only one competitor - Russia with its aggressive policy that dumps prices, steals Ukrainian grain and pushes it out of international markets," said Andrii Dykun.

According to the Chairman of the UAC, only through joint efforts Ukraine and the EU will be able to become the most powerful player in the global food market, overcome the challenges of hunger in Africa and stop new waves of migration.
