By September-October, prices for vegetables in Ukraine, especially borscht set, may fall by another 7-10%, depending on the harvest received by producers.
This prediction was made by the UAC Deputy Chairman Denys Marchuk Delo.ua reports.
The decline of vegetable prices is due to an increase in the supply. As the expert explains, the demand in the country remains stable, but in 2023, compared to the previous year, farms began to increase the area for vegetables. The situation is similar in the fruit and berry market.
"This is not only in the vegetable group. We are observing the berry season: prices for raspberries and blueberries have dropped by 25% compared to the previous week, which indicates that such trends will be continued for a certain period of time," said Marchuk.
He notified that last year’s prices were 15-20% higher than now, including due to the occupation of Kherson region. Then producers couldn’t replace some of lost crops that remained in the occupied territories.
