Export shipments of wheat from Ukraine are gaining momentum. As of December 4, the volume of wheat exports amounted to 100,000 tons out of the 1.2 million tons contracted for this month. Ukraine is expected to reach export levels of 1.3 to 1.5 million tons in December and January due to the efficient operation of seaports and strong demand for wheat on the global market.

This issue was discussed on December 5 during a weekly briefing organized by the analytical center of the agricultural cooperative PUSK, created within the framework of the UAC.

"Ukrainian wheat with a protein content of 10.5% is in demand in Asian markets, where prices remain competitive, hovering around USD 277 per ton for buyers from Bangladesh, the Philippines and Indonesia. For comparison, wheat originating from Australia costs about USD300 per ton in those markets," the analytical department of the PUSK cooperative mentioned.

Currently, wheat trading in the Danube ports has virtually stopped. Odesa ports are trading at the conventional prices of USD 145-148 per ton of feed wheat and over $170 for milling wheat.

"It is expected that wheat prices may rise in December and January, and the CPT market in Odesa will rise by USD 3-5 per ton over the next week," the analysts said.

If the work of deep-water ports remains stable, Ukraine will not accumulate large stocks of wheat for the next season.

On December 25, the world goes on New Year's holidays, which leads to a rush in many markets. Traders will be actively buying grain until December 20, avoiding the pre-holiday price increase.
