The Ukrainian sugar market is experiencing price growth. This is reported by analysts of the First Ukrainian Agricultural Cooperative (FUAC), created within the UAC.

During the week, sugar prices increased by an average of 1-1.5 UAH/kg. Currently, the cost of sugar ranges from 23-24.50 UAH/kg. The main reasons for this increase are the stabilization of domestic demand and the beginning of export recovery.

Ukrainian sugar producers are gradually returning to foreign markets. Turkey and African countries remain the main destinations. Ukrainian sugar is beginning to conquer markets outside of Europe, and analysts note positive dynamics.

“We expected the situation to be worse without exports to Europe. But now the scheme of exports through third countries is working, and it is giving its results. Ukraine is gradually exporting sugar to foreign markets, which supports its positions,” said the FUAC analysts.

Starting in 2025, the European market is planned to be partially opened for Ukrainian sugar, which can significantly affect price dynamics. Experts predict that in the second half of the season, a significant increase in the cost of products is possible.

“From January 1, 2025, we may see an active price increase when the European market opens. Last season, prices reached 29,000-32,000 UAH/t including VAT. Perhaps, this season we will also return to these figures,” commented the company.

The situation on the global sugar market may also affect the price dynamics in Ukraine.

“There are certain problems in Brazil, and this may affect the reduction of sugar production. As a result, in the second half of the season, the price of sugar on the global market may increase,” the analysts said.

Ukrainian producers can take advantage of this situation to expand their presence on the international market and increase their competitiveness.
