Ukrainian corn is in stable demand from a number of EU countries that will not receive their own corn crop due to the abnormal heat.
This was discussed on August 1 during a weekly briefing organized by the analytical center of the PUSK cooperative, created within the framework of the UAC.
"In July, Ukraine exported about 1.2 million tons, but the off-season is coming, and only 0.5 million tons have been contracted for August. However, we have a stable small demand from Italy and Spain, where the heat is up to 45℃. Also, high air temperatures in France do not contribute to the formation of the corn crop, this country may not get its own harvest. Some importers are buying the grain now, as there are concerns about the supply of European corn," is mentioned by the analytical department of the PUSK cooperative.
The conditional average price of corn is about 175-185 EUR/ton, and significant changes in the market are not expected in the near future. The new corn harvest is previously priced at 150-160 EUR/ton for delivery in October, but no forward contracts have been concluded. It can be predicted that the market will become more active in the second half of August.
