Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the UAC, spoke about the importance of the prospect of establishing exports across Western borders during his online speech at the Food Bridge Forum.
"We appreciate what Poland has done for the citizens of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, including assistance with military equipment. But during the war, it is important for Ukrainian business to make money. Today we are faced with a situation where we cannot export through solidarity. At the same time, France, the Netherlands, Germany and a number of other European countries are waiting for Ukrainian agricultural products. According to the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, Ukraine's losses from the blockade of the borders have already exceeded 400 million euros. The prospect of solidarity routes is very important for us, and we are striving to establish their work," said Denys Marchuk.
He reminded that since the EU countries started blocking imports, Ukraine has been losing its agricultural business. Meanwhile, economic studies confirm that Ukrainian agricultural products do not hinder the promotion of European ones.
It is expected that the situation with the blockade will be resolved after the new coalition government is formed.
"Before the war, more than 90% of shipments from Ukraine went through the Black Sea. Now it is impossible, trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, Poland and the European Commission are needed. It would be appropriate to talk about European interventions. We hope that this movement will accelerate with the formation of a political coalition in Poland, when a new government and new ministries will be formed that will be responsible for the agricultural sector," summarized the Deputy Chairman of the UAC.
