The Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC) supports the Government’s initiative to update the Labor Code of Ukraine.

The new Labor Code aims to modernize labor market regulations and constitutes an important element of Ukraine’s European integration commitments. Businesses need clear, predictable, and uniform rules applicable to all. This reduces conflicts and costs, increases investment attractiveness, and enables companies to grow and scale.

This step is also critically important for aligning Ukrainian labor legislation with EU standards. Ukrainian companies are already working with European partners, adapting internal policies, and following European Union practices in employment, working conditions, and employee protection.

The new Labor Code:

✅ increases legal certainty for both employers and employees;
✅ transparently regulates modern forms of employment;
✅ reduces administrative burdens through digital and simplified procedures;
✅ creates fair competitive conditions and incentives for formal employment;
✅ provides for the implementation of more than 30 EU directives, bringing labor regulations closer to European standards.

The Government’s approval of the draft Labor Code is only the first step. The document will next be considered by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and further refined between the first and second readings, taking into account proposals from all stakeholders.
