In an interview with Hromadske Radio, Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, drew attention to the acute problem that has arisen due to difficulties with postponement from military service for workers from agricultural sector.

“The government has allowed to extend the postponement, but only for those who got the postponement till May 31 in enterprises that had the status of critical importance. In addition, no new decisions are being made on the criticality of enterprises. As a result, those who had postponement before May 31 under the mobilization order cannot receive the status of critical importance now. Also, all those who received the criticality status after May 31 cannot get postponement for their employees, so the procedure of postponement is practically stopped now” explained Denys Marchuk.

Currently, the agricultural sector is finalizing the harvest of late grain crops and will start the winter crops sowing campaign, for which workers are extremely important. If the postponement issue is not solved as soon as possible, it could have serious consequences for the country's food security and economic stability.
