This idea was emphasized by the UAC Deputy Chairman Denys Marchuk during the All-Ukrainian Forum “Ukraine 30”, commenting on the prospects for the development of Ukraine's agricultural sector in 2021.
"In its historical cycle, Ukraine is focused on raw materials. This has to be changed. The sale of value-added products brings more money. It is necessary to create conditions for the cooperatives development and encourage producers for the development of the processing industry. To do this, we need to open new markets, we need to communicate with external partners, do more work through ambassadors, there must be trade missions that will promote a quality Ukrainian product," he said.
At the same time, Ukraine needs to recoup lost investment to the agricultural sector. In particular, in this matter, farmers rely on the Ministry of Agriculture Policy. At the same time, attention is focused on the development of markets for small agricultural producers.
"Leader positions of Ukrainian exports. And not only grain and oilseeds. Nowadays Ukraine is one of the leaders in the environmental products supply to European markets. Every year the number of craft manufacturers is growing. However, it is not easy for these manufacturers to find markets for these products. In addition, there is a problem with retail - some large supermarket chains do not pay processing companies for sold products for three or four months, and as a result processing companies cannot pay their producers in time. Such a chain creates mistrust. The UAC is actively working on a bill now that will clearly define the conditions and form the rules of cooperation between business and retail " Denys Marchuk summed up.
