Nowadays Ukrainian ports are blocked today due to the actions of the Russian military. The issue of grain exports is becoming increasingly critical, but if the grain corridor is opened, Ukraine needs firm security guarantees. This was stated by the UAC Chairman Andrii Dykun.
"The water area of Black Sea is mined. If we make a corridor for grain export, the Russian troops can use the corridor. That is why, first of all, we need security guarantees for our country. This is what the leaders of Ukraine have already stated. If we are demining the water area, we need weapons to resist Russia's actions. I do not believe in the safety of the grain corridor when Turkish and Russian forces are present. A terrorist country can never be trusted. Russia has to provide guarantees to third countries we can trust for the safe export of grain by sea. Russia should not be in this process," Andrii Dykun stressed.
According to him, such guarantees are also needed by buyers of Ukrainian grain, who are exposed to high risks.
"Ukraine is ready to sell grain. However, it is bought by various transnational corporations, which also need to be ensured that their ships can safely enter and leave the Ukrainian port. Someone has to provide these guarantees. When the full-scale war began, Black Sea freight rate insurance immediately increased exponentially. Currently, the risks of grain exports from Ukraine are high and freight rate will be expensive," said the UAC Chairman
