"The Grain Corridor” is not actually working nowadays, although the agreement has been signed.
"The fault lies with one country - Russia is blocking the work of not only the most powerful Pivdenyi port, but also Odesa and Black Sea ports, allowing one ship a day to pass through. More than 50 ships are already in the Bosphorus. We expect that our partners, the UN and Turkey, will intensify negotiations, as Ukraine is not a signatory to the agreement," said Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the UAC.
Ukraine has an opportunity to launch the grain corridor without Russia.
"As a country, we emphasize that we need to look for solutions that would help us to move without Russia, we already have a "plan B". Ukraine is committed to guaranteeing the safe passage of ships in Ukraine's territorial waters not only with the help of the Armed Forces, but also with certain financial guarantees. The government has allocated about USD500 million to guarantee the safe passage of those ships that, despite the actions of the Russian Federation, will be ready to enter Ukrainian ports, load and move on. As a country, we are also appealing to the world to strengthen sanctions - this is an effective mechanism against Russia. Expanding the coalition of countries that will advocate for the safe passage of ships in the Black Sea may become a lever of political influence on Russia. It is important to involve those countries that are interested in supplies from Ukraine. I mean China, the EU, and India. If Ukraine receives weapons and long-range shells on the water, our guarantees will become even more secure," explained Denys Marchuk.
