Ukrainian farmers continue to pave new export ways: transportation through the Danube River and by motor vehicles is increasing.

The world expects Ukrainian grain, Ukraine has the potential to increase exports despite sea ports blockade. The UAC Deputy Chairman Denys Marchuk spoke about the prospects of river logistics during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center:

"In my opinion, the Russian Federation is currently not interested in Ukrainian ports unblocking. The Russian military does not stop missile attacks on Ukraine. The lightning-fast operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Zmiinyi Island, which took place recently, gave farmers additional export opportunities, but these were not the volumes that sea ports could provide. Of course, exports will increase, ships will enter the mouth of the Bystre River of the Danube, but they will be of small tonnage. Large ships that are used to pass through Odessa will not pass this way. Therefore, the release of the Zmiinyi Island will increase exports by several hundred thousand tons.

It can be noted that nowadays the river ports of the Danube are used quite efficiently. About 1 million tons of cargo is exported every month through Reny and Ishmael. If a more efficient procedure for accepting ships from Romania is built, the indicator can be increased to 1.5 million tons per month."

For farmers, the transportation of products by railway remains a priority, and exports by roads are gradually increasing thanks to the opening of new border points.

"The priority remains grain transportation by railway. However, our opportunities here are limited by the inability of European partners to technically accept large volumes of grain. Currently, negotiations with Poland are underway so that the country can accept a larger number of Ukrainian wagons. Farmers are gradually increasing road transport, because new border points are being opened not only on the Polish side, but also in Slovakia. Car transportation of grain for export will increase," said Denys Marchuk.
