Andrii Dykun, Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC), took part in a regional conference of the Forum for the Future of Agriculture, held in Copenhagen at the invitation of the European Landowners' Organization (ELO), of which the UAC is a member.

The event was attended by heads of national agricultural associations, European politicians, ministers, and experts from across Europe. The key topic of discussion was the transformation of the agri-food system in the face of growing global challenges, from climate change to geopolitical instability.

I had the honor of presenting the position of the Ukrainian Agri Council on the European integration of our agricultural sector and talking about the challenges faced by small and medium-sized agricultural producers in Ukraine during the war. It is their interests that we represent, and their voice must be heard in Brussels and other EU capitals,” said Andrii Dykun.

Among the topics discussed at the conference were the assessment of the transformation of Europe's agri-food system, its connection with green policies, social justice, economic efficiency, and food security. Particular attention was focused on the adaptation of candidate countries to the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

According to Andriy Dykun, it is important for the Ukrainian agricultural sector not only to adapt to EU standards, but also to influence their formation, taking into account the realities of war, infrastructure destruction, export restrictions, and the needs of small farmers.

"We and our partners must constantly take into account: the war and its impact on agricultural production, infrastructure, and markets; issues of export and food diplomacy; European integration processes and compliance with green course standards; the role of small and medium-sized agricultural producers and their ability to adapt to CAP changes," emphasized the head of the UAC.

Following the event, an agreement was reached with German colleagues to create the first working group at the level of analytical centers.

In the near future, we will discuss a roadmap for the adaptation of the Ukrainian agricultural sector to EU conditions. This will help to make European integration more understandable, predictable, and comfortable for all participants in the process,” added the UAС Chairman.
