The invaders shelled and stole "PSP "Eneida" farm. According to preliminary estimates they caused more than 20 million hryvnias damage. There are more indirect ones, say the farm's accountants. The enterprise receive assistance to document the losses and take the first steps to restore the economy within the framework of the project to support the economic recovery of the agricultural sector of Ukraine, which is provided by Ukrainian Agri Council under the support of the USAID’s Agriculture Growing Rural Opportunities Activity (AGRO)
"Eneida" is located in the Bashtan district in the Mykolaiv region, for twenty years it has been working and developing. Before the full-scale invasion, the enterprise cultivated 3,000 hectares, providing a decent payment for the share of 300 people. Last year more than 2 million UAH of taxes and fees was paid to the budget and 20 people were employed.
In mid-March Russian troops invaded the village. Fightings lasted for more than a week, but during these days the enterprise lost 2 tractors, warehouses with grain and repair facilities. In addition, the invaders stole 3 cars belonging to PSP "Eneida" and spare parts from harvesters and equipment.
"Last year, we purchased a dryer loan of 2 million UAN. The Russians saw in it the spare part they needed and tore it out "with the roots". Of course, after that, the dryer was out of order. Now we dry the grain using "grandfather's" methods. But we understand that the material losses are many times smaller than the lost profit. This year we were able to make a profit of only 20% of the previous year. All because of spoiled grain in destroyed warehouses, and part of it could not be brought to the required quality," says Olga Uchnyova, the accountant of the "PSP "Eneida" farm.
The calculation of losses is still in process, because it is the most difficult to document the indirect losses, the farmers say. The lawyers of the Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC) are helping the enterprise under the support of the USAID’s Agriculture Growing Rural Opportunities Activity (AGRO)
"Fixation of losses began with the first "arrivals". As soon as there was a connection, we received information about damage and informed the police and the local community. After the de-occupation, the police, the State Emergency Service and representatives of the local authorities immediately arrived at the farm for documentary confirmation. There are open cases in law enforcement agencies, which are being investigated as war crimes. Special thanks to the UAC lawyers, who thoroughly and incrementally worked on all our actions to document the damage caused by the war", - says the accountant of the farm "PSP "Eneida" Olha Uchnyova.
The consultation of UAC experts was not limited to fixing losses. Professional support is also provided in issues related to deferment of loan payments and accounting during martial law. PSP "Eneida" has a number of banks loans. The postponement of the main loans made it possible to pay wages to employees and rent to shareholders.
"It's nice to see that shops are opening again in the village, and people can afford to buy everything they need. Peaceful life is slowly returning to the community," added Olha Uchnyova, the accountant of the farm "PSP "Eneida".
Unlike other farms in the war zone, "Eneida" farm was lucky, their fields were almost not damaged by explosions and were not mined. This made it possible to sow winter crops.
We will remind that the Ukrainian Agri Council and USAID’s Agriculture Growing Rural Opportunities Activity (AGRO) have launched a joint project to support the economic recovery of the agricultural sector of Ukraine, which suffered as a result of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.
The project implements the best international practices in recording war crimes and calculating the losses caused by them. Developed methodological recommendations are available at https://bit.ly/3VsTZwj
An evidence database based on the collected information is created to confirm the crimes committed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. In the future, the collected evidence base will be used to submit individual applications or to join already existing collective lawsuits in international courts to get the compensation for the damage caused.
Our team is ready to provide professional support for affected farmers. To receive the service, please contact us by tel. +38 067 503 19 08. In addition, since November 2, the Interactive map of the destruction of the agricultural sector of Ukraine has been functioning. The portal was created to show real losses of agricultural enterprises caused by Russian aggression.
The collected evidence can be used as an example for your own fixation, also the data displayed on the map will help charitable organizations and international investors to get information about the destruction in order to support enterprises in the future.
Agricultural enterprises can participate in the collection of the evidence base on war crimes at www.agrirecovery.com.ua.
