The Ukrainian Agri Council organized an online meeting of Ukrainian doctors with doctors of one of the clinics in the French city Bordeaux. More than 70 health workers from all regions of Ukraine took part in the meeting. Specialists exchanged experience in the treatment of patients with Covid-19 and the organization of medical facilities during the pandemic.
French Ambassador in Ukraine Etienne de Ponsen greeted French and Ukrainian doctors at the beginning of the meeting, saying that in such difficult times it is very important to unite and help one another. Moreover, cooperation between France and Ukraine is of very high quality in all spheres.
French doctors, including a resuscitator, cardiologist, pulmonologist, and physician in charge of quality of care, described the challenges they faced during a coronary pandemic and shared their experiences regarding:
- treatment of patients in simple cases of the coronavirus infection and those receiving resuscitation;
- treatment of pneumonia depending on the patient's age,
- the timing of the use of the ventilator in the treatment of complex cases of the Covid-19 infection;
- use of rapid tests to detect the coronavirus and evaluate their effectiveness;
- the course of the disease in children and their treatment;
- the use of coagulants in the treatment of patients with the coronavirus and the like.
They also paid great attention to the organization of work of the medical establishment and the protection of staff. In particular, French colleagues stressed that it is extremely important to protect doctors, especially those who are most in contact with patients, until the peak of the disease. To avoid burdens on medical facilities, provide extra beds, maximizing them with appropriate staff. In addition, it is important to separate the flow of patients so that those who have a suspected coronavirus do not intersect with those who do not.
In general, as reported by French experts, in their country, the peak of the disease occurred at the end of March. The average age of those with Covid-19 is 60-65 years. Deaths occur among the elderly of 75 years and older.
We thank the French Embassy in Ukraine for their assistance in organizing the meeting.
