On the Day of Unity of Ukraine, the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War opened an unusual exhibition ‘Altar of Freedom’. The event brought together artists, clergy and people who value freedom and national heritage. The event was also attended by representatives of the UAC, which became one of the project's partners. The founder and ideological inspirer of the ArtArmor project is Oleksandr Kovalchuk.
The exhibition consists of 27 icons painted on armour plates that protected our soldiers at the front. These works have become a symbol of Ukraine's spiritual strength and invincibility. The map of the country, created from icons for each region, reminds us of the unity and value of every part of our land.
‘It's incredible to see how the armour that saved the lives of our guys has now been transformed into spiritual images. This exhibition shows how strong our people are. This project is about our faith, our struggle and our victory,’ said Ruslan Holub, a member of the UAC Board.
The UAC members expressed their gratitude to the organizers and stressed that such initiatives are another front where Ukraine is winning.
