A modern potato storage facility with a capacity of 10,000 tons was opened in the village of Tupaltsi, Zvyiagel district, Zhytomyr region. It was built by Serhii Rybalko, a member of the Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC) and owner of the Adelaida Farm.
After losing his farm in the Kherson region due to the occupation, Serhii Rybalko moved his farm to Zhytomyr region and built one of the largest potato storage facilities in Ukraine in almost 7 months.
The new facility has an area of 5,305 square meters, 7 storage chambers and is equipped with an energy-saving ventilation system with low-frequency start. The storage facility uses the latest storage technologies, including green lighting that prevents potatoes from turning green. The project created 24 new jobs.
“Relocating the business was a difficult decision, but at the same time, it is a new page for our farm. We built this storage facility using the most modern technologies. However, without an irrigation system, potato growing in Ukraine remains risky. I emphasize the importance of land reclamation reform, as it will ensure stability for companies like ours,” said Rybalko.
He also emphasized the importance of uniting farmers: “We are pleased to work together with the UAC, the Ukrainian Potato Growers Association and our colleagues. We believe that new discoveries await us ahead, which will help the agricultural sector to develop.”
The opening of the potato storage facility is an important contribution to the development of infrastructure in Zhytomyr region and a confirmation of the resilience of Ukrainian agribusiness even in extremely difficult conditions.
