Today, August 27, the Ukrainian Agricultural Council (UAC) took part in the round table on the priority tasks of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations for the period of the 9th session of the Verkhovna Rada of the 8th convocation. The event has traditionally taken place on the eve of the beginning of a new political season.

Chairman of the UAC Andriy Dykun emphasized the attention of the deputies of the agrarian committee on the importance of resolving the logistical collapse in Ukraine, due to the lack of grain carriages and the overlapping of railway stations, as well as the obstruction of the movement of large-scale equipment at the height of field work. In addition, he called on the agrarian committee to create a working group on the shadowing of the domestic agrarian market. Also, the head of the UAC appealed to deputies to receive a response from President Poroshenko, why the bill # 7403-d had not yet been signed on the abolition of "soy amendments", which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on May 22, 2018.

"Until September 1, when the notorious "soy amendments" will come into force, a few days remain. Nobody understands what the price for soy will be. In some areas, especially in western Ukraine: Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Lviv, soybeans are a budget-generating culture. Therefore, there is a proposal from the committee to appeal to the President requesting as soon as possible to sign the bill No. 7403-d", - said Andriy Dykun.

Other important topics that were raised during the roundtable were bans on milk and milk products, cooperation development and a reduced VAT rate on food. It was also talking about land reform and the imperfection of this year's system of state support to the agrarian sector.

According to the deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Denis Marchuk, the relevant measures should be held as often as possible.

"For example, the ineffectiveness of the current system of state support to the agrarian sector, which the UAC warned from the very beginning, became apparent now. If the authorities immediately listened to us, the negative consequences could be avoided. Therefore, when preparing the state budget for 2019, it is necessary to hold discussions with profile associations ", - he said.

In addition to the deputies of the agrarian committee, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Victor Sheremeta, Head of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Volodymyr Lapa, as well as Olga Stefanishina, General Director of the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration took part in the round table.
