Deputy Chairman of UAC Mykhailo Sokolov took part in a meeting of the Coordinating Council on restoration and development of irrigation systems, which was attended by Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection Roman Abramovskyi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Agriculture Igor Petrashko, Chairman of the State Water Agency Valentin Shlikhta. Chairman of State Geocadastre Roman Leshchenko, Chairman of the Agrarian Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Mykola Solskyi, Deputy Ministers, People's Deputies, Scientists. The Coordinating Council approved a plan how to reform the irrigation and drainage system in Ukraine.

The main elements of the plan implementation are the adoption of two bills, which provide for:

• creation of Water Users’ Associations and it will be possible to transfer them management of hydraulic engineering infrastructure;
• creation of irrigation systems national operator;
• modernization of existing irrigation systems and construction of new ones, etc.

Mykhailo Sokolov welcomed that plan and expressed confidence that it would create a reliable basis for further development of the agricultural sector.
