Today, on August 21, the Ukrainian Agricultural Council (UAC), the professional branch of the Ukrainian Agricultural Lyceum (UAL) and representatives of a number of agrarian enterprises agreed on a "reform" of agrarian education in Ukraine.
At the request of agrarian enterprises entering the UAC, the association will select employees, and the professional department of UAL will teach, according to the needs of a particular enterprise, the enterprise will assume the costs of training, ensure the practice and further employment. The decision was made at the round table "Preparation of modern tractor drivers: the responsibility of a professional institution or the issue of cooperation of educators - agribusiness - competent mentors".
"The modern educational system in agrarian educational institutions is not practical and requires radical reforms. Unless such reforms are implemented, the business takes on this function - at the specific request of enterprises to look for people, to train them and to transfer fully-qualified personnel. Such cooperation of business, agrarian associations and lyceum is very important, because the lack of specialists is a major problem for most farms," said Andriy Voytik, head of professional training at UAL.
Farmers' representatives spoke about the skills to have a modern tractor driver, and expressed their concern about the shortage of highly skilled personnel.
"Agrarian enterprises are experiencing a huge shortage of competent specialists. 90% of graduates of technical colleges, agrarian colleges, universities have not even seen the technology they have been studying for four years. The Lyceum can prepare highly skilled tractor drivers based on enterprises. After all, the enterprise is not able to find such a motivated person, to teach it, as well as to give it the amount of information that the Lyceum can give" - says deputy director of farm "Stoyanov AA" Andriy Butenko.
The UAL has already prepared and is launching from September 1 the first training program for tractor drivers in Ukraine, based on the dual system of training, which includes a theoretical block, internships in Estonia, practical blocks together with dealers of agricultural machinery in Ukraine and a large amount of practice on domestic agricultural enterprises.
