As of the beginning of 2022, there is no shortage of mineral fertilizers in Ukraine. Moreover, at the beginning of the year the physical availability of fertilizers in the country is much higher than at the beginning of 2021.
This became known during a meeting on the situation on the market of mineral fertilizers in the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Reduced deliveries of domestic producers are offset by imports, which at the beginning of the current season has tripled compared to last year. Thus, for some types of mineral fertilizers, in particular, ammonium nitrate and urea, the import rate increased to 50%.
At the same time, due to the rise in fertilizer prices caused by the increase in gas prices, it predicts the reduction of amount of fertilizers that may be applicated to the ground. Thus, the rate of changes in consumption is predicted at -9% of market capacity of the season. The basis of this indicator was a survey conducted by agricultural associations among their participants, including the UAC.
