Today, 239 People's Deputies supported the draft law №2289 "On Amendments to the Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine" On Pesticides and Agrochemicals" on the import of pesticides into the customs territory of Ukraine."

This is one of the bills worked on by Ukrainian Agri Council expert.

UAC welcomes the adoption of this bill, as it will allow farmers to import into Ukraine for research innovative, environmental and safe PPA, and use them at their fields.

This, in turn, will increase the efficiency of agriculture, in particular, increase the profitability of grain cultivation and their area, as well as expand markets for domestic crop products.

"Ukraine's agricultural sector is the locomotive of the economy, providing more than 40% of foreign exchange earnings to the country. We are in the leading positions in the sunflower oil and soybeans export. However, we are not just behind in the use of the latest plant protection agents (PPA) - we are several years behind developed countries. In addition, it negatively affects the agricultural sector yield and the country's ecology.  The problem is that it is almost impossible to import samples of new PPA for state research in Ukraine in order to decide on its registration or its denial. Today, the Verkhovna Rada launched a procedure to simplify the procedure for pesticides and agrochemicals import to Ukraine,” UAC Deputy Chairman Mykhailo Sokolov commented.
