About hundred participants who visited this year's "The Field Day", which was organized by "Peremoha" LLC together with the DYKUN company, had an opportunity to discuss the urgent problems of farmers caused by the war. The Chairman of the enterprise, Mykola Malienko, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine, Mr. Michael Brodskyi, made congratulatory remarks.

In the conditions of the war, new problems in the farmers’ activity arose and needed immediate solution. The most important of them nowadays are crops storage and sale. "The Field Day-2022" was dedicated to these issues and took place in Malopolovetske village.

During the plenary session, with the help of both Ukrainian and foreign experts, farmers together looked for ways to overcome problems with grain storage. The UAC Adviser on Cooperation with State Authorities Dmytro Kokhan presented to the participant a possibility of mobile storage facilities usage, so-called "sleeves". "Nowadays we are working to increase such an offer on the market," he said, “So that every farmer, who does not have an opportunity to sell agricultural products on time, is provided with this technology. Also, there is a list of such points regarding innovative technologies which can be used by agribusiness in its work. This is a measure that we are already prepared for. In general, it does not solve the problem, which is connected with the impossibility of full export."

It should be noted that the world is also concerned with this problem. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has launched a new project to help Ukrainian farmers preserve their crops. As part of its implementation, FAO will try to solve the problem of shortages storage by providing small-scale producers with 200-ton polyethylene sleeves for grain storage, grain loading and unloading equipment, as well as supplying medium-sized producers and associations with various modular storage containers. One of the important requirements for obtaining equipment for temporary storage will be registration in the State Agrarian Register. "Farmers can now apply for these sleeves free of charge," Mykola Malienko noted, “Their convenience is that grain can be stored anywhere - either in the field or on the farm. The grain should be loaded into the sleeves by appropriate equipment, which is not necessary for every household, it is necessary to unite with neighboring enterprises and use it in turn. The only disadvantage of sleeves is that they can be damaged by rodents."

In the conditions of the war, farmers suffer from the price policy for their products. "There are certain "niche" crops - buckwheat and mustard, which break price records - said “The Field Day” organizer, “We recently sold buckwheat for UAH38,000 per ton. They are ready to pay UAH50,000 for mustard (previously UAH25,000 on average). Wheat hard varieties are also included in the price, for which you can get about UAH11,000 per ton. But wheat, peas, barley, corn have to be sold for nothing. Nowadays a ton of wheat costs about UAH5,000."

In general, “The Field Day” is a kind of training platform where you can see and hear, learn and express your own thoughts, buy and use. Even in these difficult times for our country, Mykola Vasyliovych is convinced that such measures are extremely necessary.

"This Field Day” is special because we are holding it during the war in Ukraine," he noted, “However, the exchange of experience and results are very important to us. Such meetings are necessary for both farmers and partners, because they are informative. We heard different opinions, understand the situation in the agricultural sector of the country and what to expect".
