The members of the two public organizations "Association of Water Users" and "Association of Users of Water Resources on Irrigated Lands" have united into the one public association - "Water Users Association". Farmers unanimously supported the creation of the new organization during meeting of the agricultural producers and the UAC participants of Kherson region.
The UAC Board members Volodymyr Khvostov and Serhii Rybalko were among the initiators of the “Water Users Association” making.
"We have to unite so that our voice was stronger for solving problems in water management and irrigation investment, as well as creation and progressive and fair legislation in this area - this is where the UAC lawyers work very effectively," the initiators of the newly created organization says.
Such an association will allow to represent the agricultural producers-water users interests at different levels, at the same time outside our country. The association plans include cooperation with world organizations.
The UAC Board member from the Kherson Region Volodymyr Khvostov was elected as a Chairman of the new created public organization, and Artur Musienko became the executive director.
Today, the land bank of the Water Users Association is more than 110,000 hectares. This is more than a third of all irrigated lands of Kherson region.
The Water Users Association is convinced that climate change, global warming and, in particular, the effects of last year's anomalous drought have shown that the restoration of the irrigation system is extremely important not only for the southern regions of Ukraine, but for all country. Therefore, the newly created public organization is open to water users from other regions.
