Dutch farmer Kees Huizinga, who has been working in Ukraine for the past 20 years, met with representatives of the European Conservatives and Reformists Party (ECR) in the European Parliament to explain the situation in Ukraine's agricultural sector in the wake of the Russian invasion.
Bert-Jan Rusen, a member of the European Parliament, helped to organize the meeting.
"There were about 60 parliamentarians in the hall. They seem to have understood what I was trying to convey, and that they, as Europeans, need to solve a huge food security issue without delay, so that they do not have to deal with its devastating consequences later. I hope they will not be immersed in the discussions themselves and will force everyone to act decisively," Kees said.
He also said that he was returning to Ukraine, to his farm, to start sowing.
It will be recalled that in early March, Kees Huizinga left Ukraine with his family to be the voice of the UAC in the West. During this time, he held a lot of meetings with politicians, international organizations and the media, explaining the real state of affairs with agricultural production and the consequences of Russian aggression, as well as Ukraine's role in world food security.
