The UAC Chairman Andrii Dykun met with the founder of the international Charity Organization “World Central Kitchen”, a world-famous chef Jose Andres, who has been feeding people in hotspots for more than 10 years and has been helping Ukrainians affected because of the war since its beginning.
"Jose and his team have already cooked 130 million meals for Ukrainians. This is an incredible amount that everyone should talk about and know," said Andrii Dykun.
Jose Andres noted that it was extremely important to prevent a food crisis in Ukraine and in the world. The patron emphasized that farmers were in an extremely difficult situation, as they didn’t have the opportunity to fully export their grain, which could threaten food security.
Andriy Dykun thanked Jose Andres for his cooperation and assistance to the Ukrainian people.
"6-7 million of our citizens left Ukraine. This is the biggest migration crisis in Europe since the Second World War. It is more than 15 million of internally displaced persons. There could be a humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. And this did not happen, in particular, thanks to Ukrainian farmers and World Central Kitchen. After all, we not only stop hunger, but also support the country's economy, provide jobs", - noted the UAC Chairman.
World Central Kitchen has already provided Ukrainians with 5,000 jobs and opened 500 restaurants all over Ukraine to prepare free food.
"Our Fund SAVE signed a contract with WCK on July 1, and on July 4 we have launched the joint humanitarian headquarter. Such speed is the result of inhuman efforts of both teams, their great motivation and courage. More than 10,000 food sets are packed every day and delivered to Ukrainians who suffered because of the war. We are proud of the cooperation and trust of the foundation of such scale. With such partners we are sure that we will be able to reach the goal of all Ukrainians and SAVE UA – to ensure food security of Ukraine and to create a national food supply system that will stand any shocks," the UAC Chairman emphasized.
It is extremely important that almost all food products are bought from Ukrainian farmers, but not imported from abroad. Therefore, cooperation with WCK is not only great help to Ukrainians affected because of the war, but also support to Ukrainian farmers.
