Ukraine should increase the development of its own processing industry in the agricultural sector. The only problem is that the country has created the most unfavorable conditions for this, which do not allow to develop this area due to the lack of appropriate policies. The UAC Deputy Chairman Mykhailo Sokolov told UNN about this in his comment.
Quotation:
"It's good that they buy our agricultural products, but at the same time, we need to take measures to develop our own processing industry. But there is a problem with our system. Because now we can build and put into operation an enterprise, but it is more expensive, than for example in Poland. It is easier to build it in Poland; it is cheaper to export agricultural raw materials in Poland than in our country. Who is to blame for this, Poland or our country? The answer is obvious: that is our fault," Sokolov believes.

Among the problems that lead to this state of affairs, the expert enter in the list corruption, high tariffs, outdated labor legislation.
"The problems are the same: bribes for land allotment, bribes for electricity connections, and all these issues are regulated, all these are insanely expensive, very outdated labor legislation that does not correspond to modern realities," Sokolov explained.
He is convinced that if Ukraine has the opportunity to start producing niche or organic agricultural products, then domestic producers should be supported and stimulated at the state level.
“If we can take some niches from Europe that will allow us to sell products with higher added value, including organic, that's great. We need to support this and understand that this is a small part of what we can sell and only a small part of our potential," the expert concluded.
