The UAC Chairman Andrii Dykun and the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania Kęstutis Navickas held a working meeting in Lithuania. The event was also joined by Ukrainian farmers, the UAC members Kase Huzinga and Serhiy Sharapov. The main issues of the meeting were logistics: "green corridors" to EU seaports and compensation for farmers' expenses.
"We discussed the introduction of a subsidy from the European Commission to compensate for additional logistics and transportation costs of Ukrainian farmers. Ukraine is not yet a member of the EU, so there are some procedural issues, but everything is possible. Our Lithuanian colleagues and Minister Kęstutis Navickas personally will facilitate the decision in favor of the Ukrainian agricultural sector. We have great support from them," said Andriy Dykun.
According to him, "green corridors" to EU seaports for Ukrainian agricultural products, in particular, to the seaports of the Baltic States (Klaipeda), Germany, the Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, and Slovenia, will increase the capacity of the European Solidarity Roads by about 1-1.5 million tons of grain per month.
Andriy Dykun emphasized the importance of intervention purchases of Ukrainian grain: "We understand that due to the termination of the Grain Agreement and until solutions are found to resume regular exports, we will have a significant surplus of grain."
The meeting also addressed the issue of assistance to Ukrainian farmers in the de-occupied territories.
"We need support for the recovery of enterprises right now. It is not only financial. We need machinery, sowing materials, livestock, medicines, feed, equipment - the list of things needed is long and we have got a positive feedback as well," said Andriy Dykun.
