In order to stop the growth of prices for socially important food products, the government plans to direct 20% of private monthly gas production to the needs of their producers. It is also established that the maximum wholesale surcharge may not exceed 24%, and retail one - 1% of the cost of its production. This is provided by two resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers №1433 and №1435 as of December 30, 2021 and other regulations.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has published a list of economic entities that produce socially significant goods and have the right to purchase gas with a 25% surcharge. It includes 6.8 thousand Ukrainian enterprises that produce bread, milk, eggs, oil and more.
The UAC welcomes the efforts of the government and the Ministry of Agriculture to support producers of socially significant food products. He also emphasizes the need to implement additional measures to hold food prices rising: VAT rates reduction and prohibition of unfair trade practices, as has already been done in EU countries.
