Tomorrow, on May 3, the European Commission is expected to make a decision on the resumption of exports and transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through 5 countries: Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. This was announced today during the weekly coordination council on logistics at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

However, the embargo on imports of 4 goods to the manshioned countries will remain in effect until June 5, 2023. These goods include corn, wheat, rapeseed and sunflower seeds.

At the same time, the Government of Ukraine continues negotiations to facilitate exports from Ukraine and transit of domestic agricultural products through Poland and other countries. The next round of negotiations is scheduled for this Thursday, where the competent authorities of the two countries will agree on a simplified format for crossing the Ukrainian cargo border.

In addition, in early May, the EU Council is expected to approve a decision to extend the duty-free trade regime with Ukraine for another year.

Another important decision of the government to support the agricultural sector is the introduction of an electronic queue for crossing the border at all checkpoints from May 5th. This will significantly reduce the time and money spent by carriers and agricultural producers waiting in lines along the roads - they will be able to wait at home and come to the border at the time of their turn.

The Ukrainian Agri Council welcomes the coordinated efforts of the Ukrainian Government headed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Community Development, Territorial and Infrastructure of Ukraine, and Ukrtranssafety in protecting the positions of the domestic agricultural sector on the international stage.

The UAC supports effective cooperation between Ukraine and the EU to improve export and transit opportunities. This will certainly support the Ukrainian economy and maimtain global food security.
