The Law of Ukraine "On organizations of water users and stimulation of hydrotechnical land reclamation https://zakon.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/2079-20#Text came into force almost 300 days ago

 Experts of the USAID Agriculture Growing Rural Opportunities Activity (AGRO) and specialists of the Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC) actively worked on the development of the text of this law.

The law is aimed to encourage farmers independently exploit and develop the reclamation infrastructure, which ensures hydrotechnical land reclamation.

According to the law, farmers can unite in non-profit legal entities (water users associations), which will receive from the state and local self-government bodies appropriate objects of reclamation infrastructure to exploit and modernize for the purpose of irrigation or drainage of agricultural lands.

On January 20, a meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Agency for Land Reclamation and Fisheries, experts from the USAID AGRO Program and UAC was held regarding the practical aspects of the implementation of the adopted Law.

Now it is acute to organize land management works in order to register the reclamation network as a relevant object in the State Land Cadastre and in the future privatize the objects of the engineering infrastructure of the reclamation systems.
