More than 300,000 tons of sunflower oil were exported as of July 22. However, liquidity on the global market is falling due to high demand and low supply. This was reported today by analysts of the First Ukrainian Agricultural Cooperative (FUAC), created within the UAC.
“For example, there are one or two buyers and no sellers on the SPT market. Some plants stopped due to preventive maintenance, while others switched to rapeseed. Today, very few plants are working with sunflower. As a result, the supply of sunflower oil is very low, and we have actually entered a period of shortage. Over the past week, the price of sunflower oil went up by USD 30-40 per ton. At the same time, prices for soybean oil, which is an indicator on the global market, and palm oil are declining. This is how the deficit works,” analysts explained.
There is also a shortage of old crop sunflower on the Ukrainian market. Due to weather conditions, this year's harvest is expected to be reduced. Sunflower prices will be high in the new season. Minimum prices will be 20,000-22,000 UAH per ton, maximum prices will be 25,000-26,000 UAH per ton (at the exchange rate of 43 UAH/$1).
