Due to the unfavorable price situation, Ukrainian farmers are forced to reduce sugar beet crops.

In total, 280 thousand hectares of "sweet" root crops were sown on fields, which is 13% less than the previous year.

This year, the Hnidavsʹkyy Sugar Plant will continue the production of ecological sugar.

Last year, Ritter Bio Agro, an enterprise specializing in eco-beet production, has grown 2,000 tons of raw materials. According to studies by leading European laboratories, from these raw materials eco-friendly sugar has been produced.

"The yield of environmentally friendly beet is much lower, but the sugar received from it will cost not 350 euros, but 1300 euros", - says director of Hnidavsʹkyy Sugar Plant.

These will be the first deliveries of sugar beets for processing.

The buyers of this product are the leading European manufacturers.

At the end of the June

This year the crop area under sugar beets is 280 thousand hectares, which is 13% less than last year.

According to the forecasts of the Sugar Association, sugar beet production will decrease by about 10% and will fluctuate within 13.1 million tons.

Accordingly, sugar production will amount to about 1.75 million tons, which is 17% less than this year's figure.

In the season about 40 sugar factories will work.

During the nine months of 2017/2018, marketing year it was exported 433.3 thousand tons of sugar, which is 36% less than during the same period last year.

Last year's record volume of sugar exports was linked to a favorable world market situation, however, this year, the situation has changed somewhat and the surplus of sweet sand is estimated at almost 10 million tons.

Therefore, one should not expect high prices either in the current or next season.
