“The work of public health structures needs to be strengthened, but not through the reorganization of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection”. UAC Deputy Chairman Denys Marchuk emphasized this issue during today's press conference, at which representatives of agricultural associations criticized the initiative of the Ministry of Health to reorganize the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
"Strengthening control over the epidemiological situation due to the spread of coronavirus should not create risks for the agricultural sector. UAC, like all other agrarian associations, is categorically against such reforms. This is a step backwards for our country" - Denys Marchuk said.
The creation of a new agency at the initiative of the Ministry of Health, which will be endowed with the functions of the former corrupt SES, will have a negative impact not only on the country's economy, but also worsen Ukraine's relations with international markets.
"Today, the State Food and Consumer Service has many functional responsibilities, including certification of seeds, machinery, seeds, etc. The new department will not be able to work completely and quickly to ensure all established work processes. The delay in issuing international certificates will suspend exports, and this will affect the work of agricultural enterprises and the economy of our country" - he added.
