The military aggression of the Russian Federation forced the Ukrainian agricultural sector to adjust itself in a short time. Logistics, crop rotation, approaches of product storage and growing technologies, legislation have changed.
Farmers carried out field work close to the zone of active hostilities, under occupation, under shelling.
The agricultural sector has survived and has its gains in 6 months:
- Sown - 14 million hectares;
- Gathered - 25 million tons of grain;
- Exported - 10 million tons of agricultural products.
The Ukrainian Agri Council kept its finger on the pulse of the agricultural front for 6 months, promptly addressing the authorities with the needs of the agricultural sector.
During the war with the assistance of the UAC:
- All tariff quotas for the import of Ukrainian agricultural products to EU countries have been cancelled;
- Quotas for millet and grain export from Ukraine have been cancelled;
- Methodological recommendations for the proper recording of crimes and losses caused because of the war have been were developed in cooperation with the USAID Program for Agrarian and Rural Development - AGRO;
- Prolonged preferential crediting of agricultural producers under state guarantees, organized advisory support for farmers;
- The procedure for booking employees of agricultural enterprises has been introduced.
- Prevention of excise duty and 20% VAT rate on fuel
- VAT and customs duties on the import of goods to Ukraine have been restored.
Since the first days of the war, the UAC has been active in the international arena: meetings with EU parliamentarians, broadcasts and interviews in the world's leading mass media. To bring the truth to the world about the war, the agricultural sector condition and food security.
For 6 month the Ukrainian Agri Council has continuously helped to overcome the consequences of the aggressor's actions. From the first days of the war with the assistance of the UAC:
- 7,500 tons of food, 100 tons of medicines were delivered, helped 100 livestock farms affected by the war
- The SaveUa Charity Fund was founded.
- A humanitarian project together with World Central Kitchen and Help-Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe Ukraine was launched
- Humanitarian veterinary assistance to dairy farms affected by the war was organized.
- More than 400 pickup trucks were handed over to the Armed Forces by the UAC participants.
