Russia continues to deliberately destroy Ukraine's agricultural sector. Recently, two agricultural enterprises in the Kherson and Donetsk regions were destroyed as a result of barbaric attacks. The consequences of these attacks are catastrophic: building and grain storage are completely destroyed, grain is burned, and holes are in the fields - these are the realities of farmers in the frontline and deliberated territories.
According to Andrii Dykun, Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, farmers working under constant threat are in dire need of government support. Without it, the Ukrainian agricultural sector risks losing invaluable specialists and farms that are an important pillar of the country's economy.
“Farmers in the frontline and deliberated territories need immediate government support. It is not only about increasing credit limits, but also about the general provision of loans to restore destroyed farms and the possibility of starting a business in other regions. We should also emphasize the need to adopt draft law No. 11180-1, which will allow farmers from the occupied territories who were forced to leave to settle their loan obligations,” emphasized Andrii Dykun.
The situation is extremely difficult, and without proper support from the state, farmers face a real risk of losing everything they have created over the years. Preserving the agricultural sector is not only a matter of food security, but also the stability of the entire country's economy. Restoring destroyed businesses and supporting those who continue to operate in the face of war should be a priority for the government and international partners.
