On Thursday, December 14, at 1.p.m, the Media Center Ukraine will host a roundtable discussion "Small and medium-sized farmers propose to preserve land sale limits during the war".

• Gennadiy Novikov, Head of the Agrarian Union of Ukraine;
• Viktor Honcharenko, Head of the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Ukraine;
• Ivan Slobodianyk, Head of the Ukrainian Congress of Farmers;
• Anatoliy Gayvoronskyi, Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Congress of Farmers;
• Ivan Fursenko, Deputy Chairman of the Congress of Self-Government of Ukraine.

The petition "To protect the Ukrainian village - to postpone until the end of the war the increase in the maximum area of agricultural land in one hand from 100 to 10,000 hectares" initiated by the UAC as of the evening of November 23 had gained the required 25,000 votes. According to the law, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is now obliged to respond to it, and farmers are waiting for his answer.

Today, Ukrainian farmers are going through the most difficult times in the history of Ukraine's independence. The increase in the limit of agricultural land in ownership from January 1, 2024, under the current conditions, will lead to the purchase of land for a song by oligarchs and corrupt officials, and small and medium-sized farmers who do not have the funds to buy land and cannot obtain loans for this purpose will be cut off from the opportunity to purchase the land on which they work.

During the roundtable discussion, leading agricultural associations representing thousands of small and medium-sized agricultural producers in Ukraine will propose the best ways to continue land reform that reflect the real state of the agricultural sector during the war and provide their proposals to preserve equal rights to participate in land purchases for all market participants in the interests of the state.
