UAC with the members of key associations of agriculture industry – the PU “Ukrainian Agrarian Forum”, the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club, the Agrarian Union of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, All-Ukrainian Congress of Farmers, the Union of Producers, importers and traders of agrochemistry appeal to the President Volodymyr Zelenskii about possible introduction of quotas on mineral nitrogen fertilizers import to Ukraine.
Farmers have presented conclusions, which indicate that the introduction of quotas will have a negative impact on the Ukrainian economy. It means higher fertilizer prices, reducing of agricultural production and limitations for partner countries.
“An example, that demonstrates the harm absence of the import of fertilizers for domestic chemical companies, is the increase of production and export by the state enterprise "Odessa Port Plant", which is evidenced by the data posted on its official website. This proves the falsity and manipulativeness of the statement that in the absence of quotas on the import of fertilizers, jobs for people will be endangered, because the chemical industry is competitive not only in the domestic but also in export markets. Unfortunately, most other mineral fertilizers producers in Ukraine are not so public, and also sell their production through intermediary structures, which allows to artificially underestimate the profitability of factories, which leads to the destruction of production capacity" - the statement says.
