On Monday, November 27, at 1:30 PM, the press center of the Interfax-Ukraine news agency will start a press conference "Land reform in time of war - small and medium-sized farmers against increasing land sales limits".

Participants:

  • Andriy Dykun, Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council
  • Mykola Pyvovar, Director of Andriivka Private Enterprise, Kharkiv region
  • Alla Stechyshyn, Director of Kalyna Loshnivska, Ternopil region
  • Oleksandr Mohylevtsev, military farmer, Zaporizhzhia region

The petition "To protect the Ukrainian village - to postpone until the end of the war the increase in the maximum area of agricultural land in one hand from 100 to 10,000 hectares" initiated by the largest Public Union - the UAC, has gained the required 25,000 votes as of the evening of November 23. Now it is up to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to respond to it.

Today, Ukrainian farmers are going through the most difficult times in the history of Ukraine's independence. The increase in the limit of agricultural land owned from January 1, 2024, under the current conditions, will lead to the purchase of land for nothing by oligarchs and corrupt officials, and small and medium-sized farmers who do not have money to buy land and cannot obtain loans for this purpose will be cut off from the opportunity to purchase the land on which they work.

For the first time in the history of Ukraine, in a record time of 20 days, the agrarian association received thousands of support from communities all over Ukraine, which means that people are highly concerned about the future development of Ukrainian villages and the ability of small and medium-sized agribusinesses to survive the war.

During the press conference, the farmers will address the President of Ukraine, share their vision of the situation and provide further proposals to preserve equal rights to participate in land purchases for all market participants in the interests of the state, including military farmers who are defending Ukraine.

Place: press-center of the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, 8/5a Reitarska St., Kyiv.

The broadcast will be available on Interfax-Ukraine's YouTube channel.
