The market for cuttings

During the second half of October, the shift in purchasing prices on the pork market continued, but its pace slowed somewhat. Thus, on the basis of the monitoring of the prices of pigs for slaughtered condition in the middle of the month weakened by an average of 2%. However, this weekly mark has reduced the lag to 1.5%.

In the second half of the month, the upper and lower limits of the purchase price range fell by 1 UAH / kg as compared to the previous week, which responded by the corresponding movement of the average market rate to 46.5 UAH / kg. Most manufacturers expect that relevant prices will remain relevant during the third decade. However, meat processors were expecting further lowering of purchase prices, believing that their lower level could drop to a "barrier" price tag - up to 44 UAH / kg.

Representatives of the meat processing industry unanimously note the reduction in sales due to the seasonal weakening of consumer activity and the preparation of the population for the heating season.

The industrial livestock of pigs has reinstated positions

In three quarters of 2018, the number of industrial pigs in Ukraine has recovered to last year's level. Thus, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, at the beginning of October, agricultural enterprises hold 3.43 million pigs.

During three quarters of this year, pork producers increased the number of held livestock by 4% or 133 thousand pigs

ASFV

In the period since the beginning of the year, 128 cases of ASFV were recorded in Ukraine. Quarantine measures continue to operate in 48 disadvantaged points in 10 regions of Ukraine: in Odesa (14), Kherson (10), Kiev (6), Donetsk (6), Sumy (4), Mykolaiv (3), Poltava (2), Cherkasy 1), Rivne (1) and Chernihiv (1).
