Imports of pork in 4 months of 2018 increased by more than 4.5 times. According to the customs statistics of State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, in January-April, Ukraine brought 3,3 thousand tons of fresh, chilled and frozen pig meat to Ukraine.

These volumes account for 60% of the imported pork for 2017 and are twice as large as pork from abroad in January-April 2016.

The activity of exporters of pork for the analyzed period, by contrast, has weakened three times compared with January-April 2017: 0.8 thousand tons against 2.4 thousand tons a year earlier.

This year's offer of slaughtering pigs from the industrial producer by 1/10 less than last year. Reducing the number of industrial pigs could not but affect the volumes of sales of these animals to slaughter.

Thus, in January-April, agricultural producers sent 157.2 thousand tons of live pork to the slaughterhouse. It is 10.9% less than a year earlier.

From the beginning of the year there were 55 cases of African swine fever.

Quarantine measures continue to operate in 15 points - in 10 regions of Ukraine (Odesa (3), Mykolaiv (2), Donetsk (2), Vinnytsia (1), Chernivtsi (1), Poltava (1), Cherkassy (1) , Zhytomyr (1), Kiev (2) and Ternopil (1)).
