Tomorrow, December 3, is the last day of registration for initiative groups’ participation in the UAC and the USAID Agro joint project on the establishment of the Water Users’ Organizations.

It will be recalled that the UAC and the USAID Agricultural and Rural Development Program - AGRO are implementing a pilot project to establish WUOs, which will last for two years.

During this time, the UAC experts in cooperation with the Water Users’ Organization and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy will provide information support to farmers: explain the legal and technical base, hold meetings with farmers, help to set up WUOs and support them at the beginning, support network transmission processes, etc. As a result of the project implementation, recommendations and templates of the necessary documents for the creation and development of new WUOs throughout the country will be developed.

During the last two months, meetings were held with agricultural producers of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, who are interested in establishing and participating in WUOs. The project consultants actively participated in the discussion of problematic issues, explained the innovations of the draft law №5202-d and presented the financial model of WUOs.
