The latest attacks on Ukraine's port infrastructure and foreign-flagged vessels threaten the grain corridor.

On the ‘We Are Ukraine’ TV channel, Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, commented on the impact of the latest attacks on Ukrainian agricultural exports and global food security.

“Missile attacks in Odesa ports are already affecting the grain corridor. Increased attacks by Russia on ships carrying agricultural products complicate export logistics. Military risks affect freight costs as companies have to take into account potential attacks during transportation,” explained Denys Marchuk.

The Ukrainian economy continues to suffer losses due to Russian aggression.

“The rise in food prices in the world due to such hits is partial, but for Ukraine, in addition to the loss of life, it is also hurting the economy. The damage from the attacks is enormous. Over the entire period of shelling, we have already lost about USD 500 million due to damage to infrastructure and destruction of agricultural stocks,” the UAC Deputy Chairman said.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Ukraine continues to call on the international community to provide support to ensure export security.

“I would like to see more practical actions from international partners to provide the ports of ‘Velyka Odesa’ with air defense. This will help to guarantee the safety of our vessels and ensure the stability of Ukrainian grain supplies,” emphasized Denys Marchuk.
