Purchase prices for milk in September traditionally show an upward trend. This is due to a number of factors: the seasonal decline in milk production, the devaluation of the hryvnia, which allows somehow to support exports and a slight revival of the domestic market with the onset of colds.
The average price for extragrade at the end of September amounted to UAH 9.60 with VAT, which is 1.3% higher than the fixed price at the beginning of the month.
In general, the price ranged from 9.10 to 9.90 UAH / kg. The average value of September amounted to 9.54 UAH / kg, which is practically the same as last year's figures.
The rest of the grades have fallen in price compared to last year. The average price for the highest grade in September amounted to UAH 8.75, which is 2.8% lower than last year's figures. The first grade cost 8.14 UAH, which is 5.4% lower than last September prices.
Such a difference in pricing primarily depends on the need for the highest quality milk.
In the first decade of October, it is expected to continue the growth of prices for extragrade milk to 9.90-10 UAH / kg, taking into account the VAT for a large party.
Greater growth can only be expected if the export trade is revived, which is currently unlikely.
According to the results of August, world prices for milk are at the level of 34.4 USD / 100 kg of ECM (IFCN data), which is 10% lower than last year. In Ukraine, the average price for milk in August was 26.9 dollars / 100 kg, which is 1.1% lower than last August prices.
