Agrarians must be compensated for the losses caused by the drought, not provided assistance from a reserve fund, which farmers will have to pay back in due course, as proposed by the government. This was stated today by Deputy Chairman of the UAC Mykhaylo Sokolov during an online meeting of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture with Agrarian Associations.
In particular, Mikhail Sokolov proposed to use part of the funds earmarked for partial compensation of the loan rate for the purchase of land to help farmers. 1.2 billion UAH is provided for this program in total.
"Agrarians need state support, especially in the southern regions. We can use part of this program to offset the losses of farmers affected by drought and frost. We believe that it is possible to reduce the amount of aid on loans, but to help those colleagues that are really ina critical situation ", Mykhaylo Sokolov said.
The UAC deputy chairman emphasized that according to the information available to the association today, it may require about 600 million UAH.
Agrarian associations should now discuss this proposal and express their views on it.
In addition to monetary compensation, the Ukrainian Agri Council proposes to resolve the problematic issue of UAC deduction. Namely: not to levy VAT on goods that have been purchased to grow crops that have died due to adverse weather conditions.
