The railway stations are closed, and farmers are concerned: logistics costs have tripled, and thousands of tons of grain are blocked. The owners of elevators with railways find themselves in a difficult position. Members of the Ukrainian Agricultural Council (UAC) claim financial losses.
"At present, we have 25 thousand tons of products blocked". And since the nearest railway station has been closed, we must provide cars from Sambir. Now it costs us almost 9 thousand, against 3 thousand, paid earlier. And these cars are not served. Products for shipment are also blocked, we can not accept fertilizers, because the station is closed. The last download took place at the end of July. There were no reports of stopping the station", - said Igor Zvarych, representative of "Western Agrarian Traditions" LTD.
"Throughout the year, our company built a new modern elevator, with a capacity of 80 thousand tons. Construction of the grain loading terminal was agreed with Ukrzaliznytsya. Literally in July this year, the construction of the elevator was completed, they managed to bring more than 20 thousand tons of early cereals - barley, wheat, and pea. And everything in this case "froze" - we can not sell products by railway, because the station is in a state of closure. We can not get 6 carriages of fertilizers, which we have already paid. There were no official alerts on station closure. They directed the appeal to the Prime Minister, the chairman of the Ukrzaliznytsya, people's deputies regarding the situation with transportation and all the useless... And still we are blocked ", - adds the head of the "Strogogo O.F." LTD, Alexander Strogyi.
Earlier, the General Assembly "Ukrainian Agricultural Council" (UAC) within the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Forum and the American Chamber of Commerce called on Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman to help resolve problems in the area of grain transportation by rail, public highways and the movement of large-scale agricultural machinery.
