During the V German-Ukrainian Business Forum "Let's Rebuild Ukraine" the Chair of the Ukrainian Agri Council Andrii Dykun thanked Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz for his support to Ukraine.
The chair of the UAC offered his vision of restoring the agricultural sector of Ukraine and highlighted its main problems:
- Prolongation of the Grain Corridor. In three months, farmers managed to export 8.8 million tons of agricultural products. It is obvious that we will not survive without the continuation of the Grain Agreement.
- Allocation of financial aid to the Ukrainian government to purchase agricultural products from enterprises. I am back again to the first point. Since this issue is political, the decision may be delayed and the farmer needs at least some guarantees and money to continue the sowing campaign in the spring.
- Support for farmers whose farms were damaged by hostilities. Our charity fund SAVE UA started rising money to help Ukrainian farmers. Together with DLG eV, as part of the EuroTier 2022 exhibition, we will present our project to support agricultural enterprises affected by the war
- Launch of processing enterprises in Ukraine. In order to save the country and the people, we need to provided jobs, and jobs are in the manufacturing industry.
- The main problem is low price for agricultural industry. Without the support of the sector right now, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to sow in the spring.
- Prolongation of the initiative regarding the absence of quotas for the supply of agricultural products to Great Britain, Canada, the USA and the EU. When quotas and tariffs on agricultural products were abolished in June, more horticultural and processing products were exported to the West than before the full-scale invasion.
