EU countries are introducing restrictions on the sale and movement of Ukrainian food products through their territories. For Ukraine, it is important to obtain permission for transit of goods through Poland, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia.

Denys Marchuk Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Agri Council announced this.

"On the eve of Easter, Poland introduced a ban not only on the import of Ukrainian products but also on transit. Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania banned the import of Ukrainian food. However, there has already been a statement from Brussels that such decisions by individual countries are illegitimate. We are waiting for a meeting of the agricultural ministers of Poland and Ukraine, where a new memorandum could be signed, according to which the transit of Ukrainian products will still be allowed. Similar agreements have already been reached with Hungary," said Marchuk.

The Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation reminded about the election in Poland and Slovakia this fall, and politicians are trying to gain the support of the rural electorate.

" Polish farmers were unable to sell their products at the planned prices due to the increase in world prices and blamed Ukrainian grain. In fact, no more than 700,000 tons of wheat and about 1 million tons of corn were sold to Poland throughout the year. These figures cannot "overload" the economy of Poland," Denis Marchuk noted.

For Ukraine, it is essential to get the free flow of goods through EU countries to reach major seaports.

"The sale of products is important, and transit is a strategic issue. For example, Hungary's share in the export of Ukrainian agricultural products does not exceed 6%. However, if each European country accounts for 5-10%, then the total turnover is significant for Ukraine. Today, inspections are being slowed down in the Bosphorus, and the "Grain Initiative" is not working at full capacity, so the alternative movement of agricultural products via the "Paths of Solidarity" is essential," emphasized the Deputy Head of the UAC.
