A difficult corn harvest campaign continues in Ukraine: almost 21 million tons have already been harvested, but about a third of the crop still remains in the fields. The greatest delays are observed in the northern and western regions. Despite improved weather conditions, the speed of corn delivery to the market is limited.
This is reported by the analytical department of the First Ukrainian Agricultural Cooperative (FUAC), created within the Ukrainian Agri Council.
The main reason for the limited supply is the high moisture content of the grain.
"To bring corn to the required standards, 10-12% of moisture has to be removed. This significantly slows down the work of dryers. Therefore, elevators report a lack of capacity and ask not to deliver new batches of grain for the time being," the analysts explain.
Spot prices remain consistently higher than forward prices and amount to USD211–212 per ton. In hryvnia, the indicator reaches UAH 10,100–10,200 per ton and may continue to grow.
“We see a slow but steady upward movement. Prices may add USD1–2 per ton every week,” the analysts believe.
