Since the beginning of the year, the state technical standards (GOST), which determined the methodology for assessing grain quality, have ceased to operate in Ukraine. These techniques are necessary in order to classify grain to one or the other quality class, so that the state can account it in storages.

Mykhailo Sokolov, the UAC Deputy Chairman, told about it live "First Business".

"Exports are not affected by this situation anyway, because our standards do not apply in the world. The quality of grain is determined by international standards, for which separate laboratory tests are carried out," said the UAC Deputy Chairman.

According to him, the essence of the problem is that the law requires us to store grain takin into account its classes. And you can determine the class of grain on the basis of established standards.

"There is a problem here - how the elevator will show the state how much it has, for example, food or feed grain. That is, this situation complicates relations with the state. At the same time, these relations are regulated by agreements and there is nothing that prohibit to notify in Appendix how the parties will assess grain quality,” Mykhailo Sokolov said.
